William Hill is preparing to launch its mobile sportsbook in the US Capital of Washington DC.
Unlike in other areas of the US where William Hill’s sportsbooks are available online statewide, in DC this will only be available within a two-block radius of the Capital One Arena.
This arena is also home to William Hill’s retail sportsbook. Since the arena is currently under construction, wagerers will be able to currently find a temporary unit there for now, while the permanent one is built.
The opening of the sportsbook was achieved thanks to a deal with the parent company who owns the stadium, Monumental Sports & Entertainment. They own several of the sporting brands within the DC area, including the Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics basketball teams and the Washington Capitals of the NHL.
The restrictions are due to Washington DC’s deal with the DC Lottery’s Gambet app. Powered by Intralot, this app and its operators have the exclusive rights for mobile wagering across the rest of the city.
This latest move from William Hill means that they now offer their services across eight of the states, and this number is only likely to increase in the future. With Caesars Entertainment finalising their deal to acquire William Hill, it is likely that we will see the sportsbook and betting brand appear in many other places across the US in the future.
