Twitter is taking more steps towards integrated in-app commerce by launching its new Shopify partnership. This partnership will allow Shopify sellers to display their products on their Twitter Professional Profiles in a way that means users can tap each item to be redirected to the Shopify product page to purchase that product.
Twitter explained the new Shopify partnership:
“We built a Twitter sales channel app, available in Shopify’s App Store and through the Shopify admin, which enables merchants to connect their Twitter account to their Shopify admin and onboard onto our Shopping Manager – the entry point to our suite of Twitter Shopping tools where merchants can access and manage our shopping features.”
The shopping tools include allowing merchants to display their products in a carousel format on their profile or product display page and real-time inventory updates through a Shopify connection.
“When they’re ready to purchase, shoppers can checkout on the merchant’s website. Starting today, we are also expanding beyond the beta testing phase for Shop Spotlight and Twitter Shops and making both features available to all merchants in the US”
Twitter’s Shopify partnership was originally announced last July in addition to its Professional Profile tools, under the original name ‘Shop Module’.
The new Shop Spotlight will be a dedicated space for sellers to display their products and facilitate a direct link from your Twitter profile to your purchase pages.
“When people visit a profile with the Shop Spotlight enabled, they can scroll through the carousel of products and tap through on a single product to learn more and purchase seamlessly in an in-app browser, without having to leave Twitter.”
