Affiliates in Colorado will have a new sports betting product to promote later this year – a mobile app by theScore. This will be launched via Jacobs Entertainment Inc., an operator which Score Media and Gaming – owner of theScore – has partnered with.
Rollout among the Rockies
Through the new deal with JEI, theScore Bet mobile app will go live later this year. JEI will pocket some of the revenue made, subject to minimum guaranteed amounts. Moreover, the operator will acquire an up-front fee to begin with.
The partnership will run for 10 years as a starting point. However, it can be extended for two consecutive five-year stints if theScore chooses to.
J.J. Garcia, Vice President of Colorado Operations for JEI, commented on this news. Since the app is already popular elsewhere in the US, Garcia thinks this will continue in Colorado.
He also mentioned how theScore Bet is “now leading the way in the integration of digital media and sports betting, to deliver a revolutionary and holistic experience for fans”.
Expanding across the US
theScore Bet app was launched in New Jersey last September. This was the first time that a media company had developed a mobile sportsbook in North America.
But its expansion throughout the continent hasn’t been cheap. In fact, theScore pinpointed its recent $4.1 million quarterly loss on the launch of this app.
Nonetheless, Founder and Chief Executive John Levy thinks that bright times are ahead. After the new deal was announced, he expressed his excitement at the soon-to-come launch in the Centennial State.
Claiming that it’s vital to grow some momentum after launching in New Jersey, Levy also went on to say the following.
“Now we are focused on its multi-state rollout while driving ongoing product innovations to further strengthen the connection between our media and gaming platforms, leveraging our incredibly powerful and highly-engaged sports app audience.”
