The Tennessee Lottery has approved a list of sports betting events that will be published on their site in the future. This list includes events which are approved for online wagering in the state. This comes as they have also approved 17 new vendors in Tennessee.
Online sports betting
The Tennessee Education Lottery (TEL) serves as the licensing and regulatory body for online gambling in this state. Their board of directors are responsible for the list of sports betting events that are now to be approved for online wagering.
In the announcement, TEL noted that the Sports Wagering Committee had approved 17 new vendors in the state.
In this state, suppliers, operators and vendors are able to apply for licenses. The vendor licenses are reserved for payment providers and of course, affiliates.
What are the terms?
Sports betting licensing is a hot topic in the USA and each state has its own take on it. In Tennessee, there is no limit to the number of licenses that may be issued. However, it should be noted that customers must be physically present to place a wager and they must be over the age of 21.
Some of the brands already approved for licensing include DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM. This comes as sports betting was first legalised in Tennessee back in May 2019.
With licenses being granted for affiliates, this kind of development is one that we should all be taking note of.
