Global sports data and digital content provider Sportradar has been awarded the AFC data distribution contract. This partnership agreement with the Asian Football Confederation will run from 2021 to 2028.
Collecting content from big tournaments
Sportradar offers cutting-edge solutions and services to media companies, sports federations and bookmakers around the world. This latest contract will solidify its presence in Asia as they become partners with the AFC.
The global data and video rights deal was negotiated by Football Marketing Asia. From 2021, Sportradar will collect match-related data and collect and distribute audio-visual content from AFC nation team tournaments and club competitions.
Providing further leverage in the region
Sportradar CEO, Carsten Koerl spoke of the new partnership and the opportunities that it will bring for the company.
Koerl said: “We are proud to partner with the AFC in this watershed moment for Asian football. With the importance of Asia, we believe that this agreement is a strategic opportunity that will provide Sportradar further leverage in the region with a sport that is growing exponentially in terms of participation and viewership.”
They added: “This puts us in an unrivalled position that will showcase a wider range of services we have to offer to engage more sports rights holders in the region.”
A spokesperson from AFC noted that the new agreement is set to bring AFC football closer to the international growing fanbase. With sports data and streaming content created and distributed by Sportradar, there are growing opportunities within this region. Sports betting affiliates and operators should take note of any further partnerships.
