The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) will meet with stakeholders from across the country on Capitol Hill today for Problem Gambling Advocacy Day.
The briefing will review and celebrate the efforts of the bi-partisan sponsors of the Preventing and Treating Gambling Disorder in the Military Act. This common sense bill improves military morale and readiness among active-duty military personnel and their dependents, as well as reduces health expenses and security risks at no cost to taxpayers.
Additional NCPG legislative priorities are to improve gambling treatment services for veterans; provide state grants for gambling research and treatment; and expand addiction diversion courts for gambling.
Panelists include: Randy Livingston, former NBA player; Stephen Crosby, Founding Chair of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission; and Marlene Warner, NCPG President. The briefing will be moderated by Keith Whyte, Executive Director of NCPG.
Back in February, the NCPG unveiled Deanna Wilken as its new Communications Manager. Wilken has since overseen the organisation’s external communications and public awareness and outreach efforts.
“We are very pleased to announce this new appointment with NCPG,” detailed Whyte.
“Deanna will bring new ideas and build on the Council’s existing structure to carry forward our communications work on all platforms. With her capabilities, I am confident we can target our communications efforts on increasing the depth and breadth of our work while continuing to engage our current members.”
