Pinterest has finally expanded on its photo mood board format to go into video content. The photo-based platform has bought over Vochi, a video creation and editing app to expand into video content.
What are the features?
On December 6th they announced the release of their new features with a post on Twitter, saying, “Today we’re announcing that we’ve acquired Vochi, a video creation and editing app focused on democratizing quality tools for creators. Acquiring Vochi is part of our commitment to helping creators bring more quality video content to Pinterest. Having more inspiring content can provide Pinners with more ways to watch, make and shop creator ideas.”
Users will now have the ability to remove items from their clips, add 3D effects, and more visual features on top of the capturing and editing of videos on the platform.
This comes after Pinterest announced their new “Idea Pins” which is a variation on Instagram’s Stories feature.
How will it impact affiliate marketing?
More and more affiliate marketing trends are aimed at smaller online platforms like Pinterest, TikTok, and Snapchat, as an untapped source of customers’ attention. What is important to note is that two of those platforms are video-based.
Pinterest has some catching up to do on marketing resources. In a time where platforms across the board are making waves creating features to better connect marketers with customers, offering as many forms of content as possible is considered a given.
With these additional video and editing features, plus the fact that Pin views tripled in 2020, Pinterest can be considered another source of customers for marketers to reach.
