Pennsylvania shares October sports betting revenue figures

Sports betting revenue in Pennsylvania didn’t change by much in October, but the amount that sportsbooks handled rose considerably.

Pennsylvania’s October sports betting market: the key statistics

In total, sports betting operators in the Keystone State handled $241.2 million in bets last month. This was a sizeable increase on September’s figure for this, which stood at $194.5 million. 82%, or $198.6m of this, was wagered online.

Overall, Pennsylvanian sportsbooks reported $19.1m in combined revenue. This was slightly down from September’s total, which was $19.3m. $14.4m of October’s sports betting revenue was from online sources. The win rate for bettors was 7%.

How did operators fare?

Sports betting in Pennsylvania continued to be topped by Valley Forge Casino, a FanDuel Sportsbook partner. FanDuel’s online sportsbook contributed to $113.9m of the company’s total sports betting handle, which in total reached $118m. The FanDuel online sports betting site was also responsible for $8m of Valley Forge’s $8.2m in total revenue.

Rivers Casino Philadelphia was second on the revenue list, accumulating $3.2m in revenue from $37.2m’s worth of wagers. $2.4 of their betting revenue came from online sources, while iGaming also contributed to $30m of the total handle.

Third-placed Parx Casino generated $2.7m in revenue, $1.7m of which was online. $25.9m in sports bets was handled, with $18.4m coming through the operator’s online sportsbook.

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh was the only other operator in Pennsylvania to bring in more than $1m in sports betting profits. It handled $34.2m in bets, of which it kept $2.3m.

Sports betting in Pennsylvania: November and beyond

Despite the slight dip in revenue during October, sports betting in Pennsylvania is performing well. Online is accounting for most of its profits, much of which is coming through a select few operators.

It’s possible that the launch of DraftKings‘ mobile sportsbook here could shake things up. However, we’ll see whether or not that’s the case once November’s statistics are released.
