A request has been put in by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) to block access to an additional nine offshore gambling and affiliate websites in Australia.
All nine have been said to have offered services to Australian customers without a proper licence, which is in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, said the Authority.
In response to this, the ACMA has reportedly been in contact with Australian internet service providers to block access in the country to nine gambling operators: Bambet, Stay Casino, Level Up Casino, Dazard Casino, Rocketplay Casino, Cobra Casino, Wild Tornado Casino, Cobra Bet, Pokies Lab and Casinority.
This new round of blocking operators means that the ACMA has now blocked a total of 481 gambling websites that have been trading illegally since the authority submitted its first blocking request in November of 2019.
As well as this, there have been over 160 illegal services which have also pulled out of the market in Australia since the new illegal offshore gambling restrictions came into effect in 2017 and began to be enforced by the ACMA.
The ACMA released a statement: “The ACMA is reminding consumers that even if a service looks legitimate, its unlikely to have important customer protections,
“This means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money.”
The ACMA issued some extra blocking orders just last month against Sportaza, ExciteWin, Sol Casino, Golden Crown Casino, PowBet and Gambling Online after they were said to have also breached the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
