Back in 2019, tech giant Google launched a digital marketing coaching program designed to help small-medium business owners and entrepreneurs learn how to effectively market their businesses and advertise their products in today’s digital landscape.
Initially, the program was only available in select US regions. However, Google has confirmed that the digital marketing scheme will now be expanded into new territories, including Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon, and South Carolina.
The program enlists a team of digital coaches who are trained by both Google and economic development firm Main Street America. Businesses who join the program will be paired with a coach from their home state, who will help them develop and grow their business using expert local knowledge and experience.
Through the program, businesses will have access to workshops on a variety of different topics, with digital marketing coaching opportunities available across a range of practices and industries. Business owners will receive guidance on how to best connect with consumers, sell their products, and optimise their operations to boost productivity.
Google has onboarded more coaches, with 28 now available as part of the program. Since the program’s inception, over 160,000 small-medium businesses have been offered digital marketing coaching and support.
Perhaps the best part about this program is that it’s totally free. However, Google certainly benefits indirectly, with businesses that are part of the program more likely to spend more on ads. Furthermore, as more businesses join the program, Google will continue to grow its business database and portfolio of products and services.
As our professional and personal lives become increasingly digitised, programs like Google’s digital coaching scheme will become ever more important. Digital skills are more essential than ever before, all businesses, large and small, must ensure they have the skills and knowledge required to thrive in today’s digitally driven world.
