Stockholm-listed Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has strengthened its position in the European market after securing new licensing provisions, allowing it to operate in Spain and Romania.
The Class II licence, approved by the Romania ONJN, will permit GiG’s Media Services – which currently operates the media assets. Publishing and paid media teams – to direct traffic towards online casino and sportsbook operators holding a licence to operate in the country’s regulated market.
The company confirmed that it had gained the go ahead from the Spanish gambling regulator DGOJ to gain B2C online sportsbook and casino licences.
“We are delighted to be awarded the Spanish licenses and are looking forward to serving the market with our top-performing operator Rizk and our full suite of B2C and B2B products and solutions,” said GiG chief executive Robin Reed.
The company has also disclosed that it will move to launch its flagship RIZK brand for the Spanish market, viewing the move as the launchpad to further LATAM opportunities.
Richard Brown, Group COO of GiG, said of the licence approval: “We are excited to extend our market reach by starting to refer end users to operators with a Romanian licence.
“We are expanding into another regulated market, where we will be able to utilise the full range of marketing channels available across both the sports and casino verticals. Romania is still a developing market and with good projected underlying growth in the online sector which has accelerated in the last couple of years.“
