Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has consolidated its US influence through expansion into Colorado’s newly-launched sports betting market.
World Sports Network (WSN.com), which is the company’s flagship affiliate site, has been awarded a new vendor minor sports betting licence for the state.
Following the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission’s approval, WSN.com will be permitted to drive traffic to regulated operator sites.
Colorado is the seventh state that WSN.com is active in, with others including New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
“Delighted to further strengthen our position”
Jonas Warrer is the Managing Director for GiG’s Performance Marketing division. He spoke about WSN.com’s Colorado expansion and had the following to say.
“We are delighted to further strengthen our position in the US with this latest licence approval.
“WSN.com continues to gain momentum in the US market and Colorado provides us with an even greater opportunity to convert visitors into players as legal sportsbooks begin accepting customers in the state.”
Sports betting in Colorado
Sports betting launched in Colorado at the beginning of May, having been approved via a public referendum last November. At the time of its launch, the COVID-19 lockdown meant that land-based casinos were unable to take bets straight away.
Despite both that and a limited sporting calendar, operators in the Centennial State handled $25.5 million in regulated bets during the first month.
The Denver Broncos, who represent the state capital in the NFL, have also delved into the betting side of sponsorship. They recently secured the division’s first-ever betting partnership last month, when they signed a long-term deal with FanDuel.
Recently, Betsson Group announced its expansion into the market and first-ever venture into the US. The Stockholm-listed operator plans to launch its sportsbook in the first half of 2021.
LocationSmart also given Colorado green light
Location-as-a-service company LocationSmart has also been given a new vendor minor licence to operate in the state.
Sports betting platform operators in Colorado will now have access to a suite of services, including IP intelligence and geo-tracking.
LocationSmart Chief Executive Mario Proietti said the below.
“We are pleased by our expanding ability to help gaming and lottery operators meet their geographic compliance needs. This licence is another step in the broadening of our footprint for our customers around the world.”
