Gerry Ahern to oversee content production at Gambling.com

A veteran as a digital media executive, editor and sports writer, for 30 years, Gerry Ahern, will be overseeing and expanding the content production of Gambling.com Group Pls (the “Group” or “Gambling.com Group” in North America.

Coming to the Group after seven years with USA Today Sports Media Group, first as Vice President of Content and then later as Editor-in-Chief of Golfweek magazine, Adhern brings a variety of different experiences into the new role.

In 2011, he oversaw the reorganisation of the USA Today Sports team into the digital-first operation, growing audience and reach. Golfweek saw Adhern amplify the magazine’s digital footprint, where he established new benchmarks for audience and social resonance. Adhern served as President of the Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE) in 2012.

While he was managing Editor/Colleges and Investigations at Yahoo! Sports (2005-2011), his team’s reporting earned numerous awards while helping the brand establish itself as the No. 1 U.S Sports website, according to Comscore.

With websites such as Gambling.com, Bookies.com, TopUsBets.com, as well as the Badder Beats Podcast, the Group employs a network of expert writers and freelancers to cover sports betting and online gambling across the United States.

The Group publishes comparison sites for online gambling services, where they provide a deep source of players for sports betting and online gambling operators. While publishing nearly 50 different web portals across 15 national markets in none languages, the company is a media company and a member of the Associated Press Sports Editors – the Group does not offer gambling services.

May 2018 saw the U.S Supreme Court repeal the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, which removed the federal ban on sports betting. Some 16 states have since legalised sports betting, while several more are also in the process.
