Golden Nugget Online Gaming has finalised a deal with the Greenbrier Hotel Corporation that will allow the operator access to the West Virginia sports betting market.
Through the licenses held by the Greenbrier, a hotel and casino resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Golden Nugget will be able to offer mobile sports wagering and some digital casino games.
This is an expansion on the services already on offer from Greenbrier. They have an existing partnership with sports betting and daily fantasy operator FanDuel. Through this partnership and under their license, FanDuel was able to roll out a mobile betting app in this state. Therefore, there is a possibility that we might see something similar from Golden Nugget.
The deal will go ahead subject to regulatory approval.
Golden Nugget Online Gaming owner and Chief Executive Tilman Fertitta described the deal as “an important milestone” for the company.
West Virginia sports betting laws came into effect quickly after the 2018 Supreme Court’s over-ruling of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act. The state was the 5th to legalise sports betting and has since rolled out online casino games too.
The Greenbrier Hotel is at the centre of activity in the Mountaineer State when it comes to betting. With legal and regulated sports betting on the rise here, this is the perfect time for affiliates to look at what West Virginia and the wider American markets can offer.
