Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced in a social media post that the company will be offering a fund for creators across both Facebook and Instagram. There is more than $1 billion (£722,715,000) on the table for creators through to the end of 2022.
Not a lot of details yet
According to Mark Zuckerberg, this project is part of a planned expansion of the brands and the fund is set to bring more creators back to the channel. He said: “We want to build the best platforms for millions of creators to make a living, so we’re creating new programs to invest over $1 billion to reward creators for great content they create on Facebook and Instagram through 2022.”
Zuckerberg added: “Investing in creators isn’t new for us, but I’m excited to expand this work over time.” It is also worth noting that Facebook will not be taking a cut of creator-generated income until at least 2023.
What does this mean for creators?
The reports so far of the $1 billion creator fund suggest that there will be a variety of rewards for creators across both channels. Not only will there be bonus programs in place for hitting certain milestones but there will also be funding for creators to produce their own content.
There will soon be a dedicated place for the bonuses within the respective apps where creators can learn more about what is available. This is also expected to include an in-stream bonus, an IGTV ads bonus and a Reels bonus which is set to launch in the US in the next few weeks.
In order to be eligible for the bonuses, creators and brands must comply with the partner monetization policies. We encourage any creators or affiliates to keep an eye on Instagram and Facebook to see how they can benefit further from the content that they create.
