EveryMatrix has launched the Academy for Heroes, a fully-funded program aimed at helping Ukraine’s military veterans transition into new careers in the technology sector. Based in Lviv, the academy is designed to provide veterans with the skills and training needed to succeed in IT roles. Let’s dive into what this project means and why it matters.
Why the Academy for Heroes?
Ukraine has hundreds of thousands of active combatants, and as the war continues, many veterans return home with a need for social and professional reintegration. For some, this means finding a new career path that offers stability and growth. The Academy for Heroes steps in by offering specialized courses in IT, developed by industry experts. Veterans can learn essential skills that will help them build a successful future in tech.
What the Academy Offers
The academy provides training in key areas of IT such as project management, quality assurance, and full-stack development. These are high-demand skills in the tech industry, both in Ukraine and globally. Upon completion of their courses, veterans will have the opportunity to intern at EveryMatrix and other leading Ukrainian IT companies, helping them gain hands-on experience.
The program not only equips veterans with IT knowledge but also supports them in finding employment. EveryMatrix and several other tech firms are committed to helping these veterans secure jobs after their training, offering them a pathway to a stable career.
Why This Matters for the IT Sector
Ukraine’s IT industry is one of the strongest parts of its economy, recognized globally for its technical expertise. By helping veterans transition into IT careers, the Academy for Heroes is also strengthening the country’s tech workforce. EveryMatrix CEO, Ebbe Groes, highlighted that their Lviv office is key to the company’s success, and this project further solidifies their commitment to the community.
For veterans, this program offers hope and the opportunity for a brighter, more secure future. For the tech industry, it’s a way to tap into a pool of disciplined, dedicated individuals who bring valuable skills and life experience to the table.
A History of Giving Back
The Academy for Heroes isn’t EveryMatrix’s first charitable initiative. Back in 2015, the company launched TeachStream, a project aimed at providing educational resources to disadvantaged children in Romania. Now, with the Academy for Heroes, EveryMatrix is once again stepping up to support a community in need, this time by helping veterans rebuild their lives through IT careers.
What’s Next for the Academy
The Academy for Heroes plans to train four groups of veterans every year, with each group specializing in different IT disciplines. In addition, EveryMatrix has plans to open a specialized, inclusive-friendly training center by the end of 2024, further expanding their reach and support for Ukraine’s veterans.
This project is unique in Ukraine, and it’s creating real opportunities for veterans to thrive in one of the country’s most vital sectors. By investing in the skills of veterans, EveryMatrix is not only helping individuals but also contributing to the long-term growth of Ukraine’s tech industry.
