Esports Entertainment has signed an agreement to officially acquire B2B software provider ggCircuit and esports operator Helix Esports for £32.9 million. The online tournament and adult gaming company made this decision as part of their strategy to build an esports and betting powerhouse.
Creating the ultimate iGaming experience
By combining innovative technology, esports betting, real-money online gambling and physical venues, they hope to create the ultimate iGaming experience. Chief executive Grant Johnson said that their acquisition has helped build “the most diversified, US-listed esports entertainment asset in the entire ecosystem.”
Johnson continued: “These acquisitions significantly strengthen our Three Pillar Strategy, adding state-of-the-art esports entertainment centres, an esports-focused vertical enterprise software business, a best-in-class esports analytics platform, and a player-vs-player skill-based wagering platform to our diversified asset base.”
“Together with what we’ve already built and further near-term acquisition opportunities, Esports Entertainment Group is well on its way to becoming a global industry leader,” he finished. Their purchase of Helix Esports, in particular, has allowed them to take charge of five new esports centres, two of which are some of the largest in the United States.
Expanding into an esports empire
The online tournament company expects competitive gaming to soon become as popular as traditional broadcast sports, hence their urgency. As such, Helix Esports and ggCircuit aren’t the only companies they have bought into recently.
They also finalised a deal with the iGaming operator Argyll Entertainment back in July and is currently in the process of obtaining the Esports Gaming League, a British land-based tournament operator.
As Esports Entertainment continues to expand their monopoly, they are set to become one of the leading companies in the iGaming industry.
