The Esports Entertainment Group has signed a multi-year partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA.
This will make Esports Entertainment the official esports tournament provider for the team. They will also operate three esports tournaments, for the Cavaliers and co-branding with them, on the Esports Gaming League.
To promote these co-branded tournaments, the Cavaliers will allow Esports Entertainment to use their digital marketing channels. They will also be allowed to use LED signage at the Cavaliers home games of the 2021/22 season.
Esports Entertainment chief executive Grant Johnson said: “We are delighted to announce the Cavs as our first NBA team partnership; our robust tournament platform will help the Cavs strengthen connections with their fans, while providing new avenues for engagement.”
Matt O’Brien, the vice president of global corporate partnerships for the Cavaliers added: “The growing popularity of esports provides a great opportunity for our team to create deeper connections and engagement with our fans.
“We think these tournaments will be very popular with our fans and a fun way to compete in an entertaining and social environment with gamers from across the world.”
This new acquisition for the Esports Entertainment Group bolsters their position in the American markets, and adds to the partnerships that they have already created. So far, they have signed partnerships with several teams in the NFL, including the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Baltimore Ravens.
