The German Sports Betting Association (DSWV) and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an effort to protect sports integrity.
The MoU is designed to ensure that the two bodies work in partnership and activities on betting and related integrity issues in Germany after the IBIA recorded 76 instances of suspicious betting in the third quarter of this year.
“The partnership between the DSWV and IBIA is another welcome step forward for the German sports betting industry,” DSWV president Mathias Dahms said. “With its many years of international experience and expertise in the field of sports integrity, the IBIA will support us in strengthening the regulated market and protecting it from manipulation. We, therefore, look forward to many joint projects and constructive cooperation.”
IBIA chief executive Khalid Ali added: “IBIA recognises the important work that the DSWV has done over the years in transforming the German regulated sports betting market. That market transformation is ongoing and betting integrity is a key part of that discussion.
“Indeed, the market provides a number of important opportunities and challenges for both of our associations and their respective members. IBIA looks forward to working closely with the DSWV to improve and protect the German sports betting market for consumers, sports, and betting operators.”
