DraftKings has reached an agreement with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), which is subject to regulatory approval, to become the organisation’s official gaming partner.
A historic agreement
In a statement released on Monday, it was announced that DraftKings will become an official gaming partner of WWE.
“We’re excited to enter this new agreement that makes DraftKings WWE’s first-ever free-to-play gaming partner,” said WWE chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon.
DraftKings chief business officer Ezra Kucharz said in a statement that the New York-listed sports betting and fantasy sports operator was “thrilled to join forces with WWE and introduce its devoted fanbase to the DraftKings brand”, adding that this partnership will help “fuel the engagement and drama of WWE’s signature matchups and storylines as audiences enjoy the second-screen experiences our products provide”.
Launch at WWE’s biggest event of the year
As part of this historic agreement, which is subject to regulatory approval in all applicable jurisdictions, DraftKings will receive an exclusive license to media assets and in-game branding for WWE pay-per-view events.
It will launch with an inaugural free-to-play pool at WWE’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania 37 on April 10 and 11. WWE fans and DraftKing customers will be able to participate in several integrated, free-to-play pools contests and products, and to experience digital promotions and program integration.
