ComeON, the iGaming operator has confirmed that it has been working alongside data science specialist, neccton, in efforts to launch a new responsible gaming tool which will be based on artificial intelligence, in an attempt to help players with avoiding problem gambling behaviours.
The tool has also been developed in partnership with academics from a psychology field. It tracks player data, while detecting risk patterns, changes in behaviour and also flag signs which show signs of problem gambling.
Helena Berg, Responsible Gaming Manager at ComeOn, said: “At ComeOn, we are convinced that gaming services can be delivered in a safe and sustainable way.
“Providing the right conditions and incentives for players to gamble responsibly is part of how we take care of our customers and ensure the safe and high-quality service we want to offer them.”
If a player is highlighted as being seen as a risk who could be seen to be developing signs of problem gambling, then the new tool will then offer personalised feedback and communications, which are put in place in order to encourage responsible gambling.
Dr. Michael Auer, Director at neccton, added:“We are happy that ComeOn has chosen neccton as their partner to help ensure player safety to their customers.
“Using modern technology to analyse player behavior, detect risk signals and in a user-friendly way inform the players is a great method that has proven to be successful modifying player behaviour.”
This move from neccton and ComeOn is another step following the Gambling Commission’s collaboration with The Samaritans, who aim to tackle problem gambling, with the connection it has to suicidal thoughts.
The small research which was conducted by the Gambling Commission and The Samaritans shed light on the findings from the 2007 Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey (APMS).
Published by GambleAware and the Gambling Commission, the research indicated that one in five (19%) problem gamblers had thought about suicide in the past year.
