Casino Davos’ Casino777 enters Swiss iGaming market

Land-based casino operator, Casino Davos, jointly owned by Stadtcasino Baden Group and Belgium’s Ardent Group, has launched an iGaming offering in the newly regulated Swiss market.

Casino Davos currently offers online casino via the Casino777.ch brand, where they have become the fourth operator to launch in the market. It follows its parent company’s largest venue, Grand Casino Baden with Jackpots.ch, and Grand Casino Luzern, with MyCasino.ch, along with Casino Pfaffikon Zurichsee, via SwissCasinos.ch.

While Stadtcasino Baden remains the Davos venue’s majority shareholder with a 46 per cent stake, Belgium operator Ardent Group, which was formally known as Circus Group, acquired a 44 per cent holding in May 2018, in anticipation of the online launch. The remaining 10 per cent stake is held by the Davos Tourism Organisation.

As a result of its investment, Ardent Group’s Gaming1 online casino solutions provider subsidiary is powering the Casino Davos online site.

Ardent also has a partnership in place with The Stars Group, which operates PokerStars.be under its land-based licence in the Belgium market.

This has resulted in reports that Casino Davis will serve as Stars’ iGaming partner in the Swiss market, providing an online poker product for Casino777.ch. Neither party has confirmed the partnership to date.

However it has been seen that Stars Group chief executive, Rafi Ashkenazi said following the publication of the operator’s H1 results that the operator aimed to relaunch Swiss poker during the second half of 2019 but added that the roll-out had been “slightly delayed”.

To date, four Swiss land-based casinos have had iGaming licence applications ratified by the country’s Federal Council.

Grand Casino Baden’s iGaming offering is powered by platform provider, Gamanza, a supplier established by Mobenga and Together Gaming founder Magnus Lindberg. Stadtcasino Baden Group has taken a 50% stake in the supplier as part of the agreement.

Grand Casino Luzern, meanwhile, is working with Åland Islands-based Paf for its offering, and Casino Zürichsee operator Swiss Casinos, has partnered Playtech, which went live on 2 September.
