With the Euro 2020 kicking off this week, football fans all over the world are highly anticipating the upcoming games. Fans are pulling out all of the stops to support their teams, and even some businesses too. Irish betting organisation, Paddy Power, have decided that they are going to donate €10,000 to the Irish football team every time England score a goal at the Euros.
A generous gift
For the duration of the UEFA Euro 2020, for every goal that the English team score money will be put into the bank for Irish football. Paddy Power have even said they will double the price to €20k if player Jack Grealish or Declan Rice find the back of the net. It is no doubt that the Irish football team are very grateful for this generous gift, after unfortunately not qualifying for the tournament.
It’s not just Paddy Power that are backing the English team this season. Former international and Premier League star Damien Delaney and sports commentator Eamon Dunphy are both on board as well. To show their commitment to this deal, Paddy Power pinned a huge St George’s cross flag on the grounds of the Carlisle Grounds in Bray, Co. Wicklow.
The flag, along with the donation of money is all to support the #SaveOurGame campaign that has been set out. This campaign has been set out to support Irish football teams all across the country, helping the teams to improve their football grounds.
