Spanish La Liga football club, RCD Mallorca has entered into a new shirt sponsorship deal with bookmaker, Betfred.
Betfred will now be serving as the club’s main sponsor for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, with the logo appearing on the front of the player’s shirts.
The bookmaker’s branding will also be featuring prominently around the team’s San Moix home stadium, as well as the club’s official website.
RCD Mallorca chief executive, Maheta Molango, said: “We are thrilled to have Betfred utilise RCD Mallorca as a vehicle to achieve its strategy of international expansion.
“In addition to this, we recognise our goals and this is also a strategic partnership for RCD Mallorca within an important context of the British, Spanish and international markets.”
BetFred’s co-owner, Fred Done, added: “The agreement with RCD Mallorca is the first partnership we have made outside of the UK. The deal to be the principal partner of the Spanish club is one we believe will assist our planned expansion both in Spain and internationally.”
The deal has been facilitated by Sportradar’s holistic marketing solution. Betfred is a client of Sportradar’s sports and betting-related data business Betradar.
Hampus Lofkvist, director for global sponsorship at Sportradar, said: “We congratulate Betfred on their official partnership with RCD Mallorca, adding to their long history of sports sponsorship.”
The deal has come after Betfred secured a new license last month, which allows them to offer its online sportsbook and casino in Spain. At the time, the bookmaker stated the the Spanish launch is part of the ongoing expansion strategy, which also includes a move into the US sports betting market.
Betfred have already agreed a deal to power over-the-counter and mobile wagering for Iowa’s Grand Falls Casino Resort.
