Becoming an affiliate – How to find the right program for you

When you first look into becoming an affiliate, you will no doubt find that there are many factors that go into finding precisely the right program for you. How do you decide which program to join? Here are some of the key things you should look for to help inform your decision.

Payouts

Of course, one of the first things you should look for should be the pay structure. This is the amount you will earn depending on how your links are used. You need to know how much you can expect to make, and the way in which you will qualify for the payment.

You will find that most programs offer either a rev-share or CPA structure. Rev-share is based on how often your audience returns to the site you are offering through your links. It is incredibly popular amongst iGaming affiliate programs, where it is awarded to affiliates whose players return time and time again to the same casino.

CPA, or cost-per-acquisition, is another popular model. You are simply paid for every new person who signs up through your links. Some affiliate programs also offer hybrid models so you can mix rev-share and CPA to make the best deal for you.

Relationships

With some affiliate programs, you can sign up and then be left out in the cold once the onboarding process is completed. You will have very little guidance on how best to manage your platform, and you might find yourself unable to track down a good way to progress.

A good affiliate manager will support you every step of the way. They will be able to help you reach realistic goals and then set new ones to expand your reach further. Through regular check-ins and training workshops, you should be able to build a relationship with them that will be beneficial to both of you.

Niche

You do need to ensure that the affiliate program you choose fits your own niche on the internet. There is no doubt a personal brand that you have built yourself, perhaps through a blog or a social media platform, and you ideally want to find an affiliate program that offers a product or service that you yourself use, so becoming an affiliate is not too much of a jump.

Likewise, you need to consider your target audience. They should also be interested in what you have to offer. You may have to learn how to market to them specifically for the most engagement and the best results. However, techniques such as social selling should put you in a good position to be able to do so.

These are three key factors you need to consider when you look into becoming an affiliate. You always need to ensure that you are choosing a program that works best for you, and will offer you the support you need to build a successful affiliate platform. If there is an aspect of a program that you are not fond of, you might be able to find another that avoids it!
