Matthew Addai is the co-founder and CEO of Cashblack and Afrofiliate. After a sabbatical following his last role as a senior trader for a hedge fund, the finance MSc. graduate embarked on a period of independent study at the start of 2020 to discover a potential entrepreneurial path for himself. His research, combined with that year’s global anti-racism movement, helped him determine a direct correlation between the lack of support for Black-owned businesses and socio-economic issues experienced by the Black population concluding that the best way to rectify these issues would be a platform to incentivise patronage of these business while reinvesting into the patrons.
This resulted in him and his brothers creating a platform where members could shop online with Black-owned retailers and, on their purchases, be rewarded with cashback. Thus, naming it “Cashblack”. And to ensure accurate tracking of it’s commissions and conversions, Afrofiliate was formed as an affiliate network to provide Black-owned businesses with the facilities to create their own affiliate programmes.
With partnerships with Etsy, Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats to name a few, as well as hundreds of Black-owned retailers onboard, both companies were launched in 2023 to support your support of Black-owned businesses.
