Affiliate Spotlight: Björn Leyonberg, RebelBetting - Affiverse

Affiliate Spotlight: Björn Leyonberg, RebelBetting

Affiliate Spotlight shines a light on various affiliates and sites from around the worldThis time, we spoke with Björn Leyonberg.  Working within the sports betting industry for over 11 years as an affiliate, Björn now runs a subscription based technology business, RebelBetting. During this interview he spoke about subscription betting, the sure betting model and how he’s keeping up-to-date with new gaming trends.

Affiverse: Could you begin by explaining who Rebel Betting are, and what the business gets up to day-to-day?

Björn Leyonberg: RebelBetting is a Swedish based technology company and was founded in 2007. It develops smart betting products and services targeting both a B2B and B2C audience. We were the first company in our niche that were completely transparent about the business behind the product, who we were, and what we offered. Often affiliates are incognito but being transparent only pushed us to work harder. It also built a good amount of trust between us, our partners and of course with our customers.

To be honest, the existing services back then were well below par. We made it our mission to build a superior technology and provide a better service and our products are now considered to be the gold standard in the sure betting, value betting and matched betting markets. We released our first public version of the tool in 2009 and since then we’ve had over 125,000 customers join us from over 140 countries world wide.

It’s been an awesome ride, and still is!

Affiverse:  What do your products offer to sports betting players and why do they use them?

BL: We offer three core technology products. Sure betting, Value betting and Matched betting services. All are great ways of earning money on sports betting, but they differ from one another in a few important ways.

Sure betting (also known as sports arbitrage trading)
You cover all outcomes of a match, by placing two or three bets on the same match but with different bookmakers. You win every time no matter the result of the match. It’s steady and gives substantial profits every month, while there is very little or no risk involved and almost no variance.

Value betting
You bet on a single overpriced odds, that is higher than the true probability, on one outcome of a match. This is the easiest way to make money on sports, with substantial profits over time, while it carries inherent risk and variance, you must be prepared for downswings, but since the bets you place have a positive expected value, you will profit in the long run.

Matched betting
A way to profit from bonuses, free bets and other incentives offered by bookmakers.
Such a great way to build your initial bankroll before getting into sure betting or value betting.

Just last month we launched a brand new, mobile friendly, web version of our popular ValueBetting service which has been a great success. We still work hard every day with product innovation, providing better education for our customers and maintaining the high level of service that is associated with RebelBetting products.

Affiverse:  How does all of this tie your business back into the affiliate sector?

BL: It is working well. When starting or competing in a business of any kind, I believe that one should focus on what you are good at and completely own that space. The areas we are operating in, especially when it comes to sure betting and value betting, are highly niche. We develop smart betting tools to a niched audience and we do it well. That is why we’re still leaders in the business after 11 years. We also own and operate an affiliate site for affiliates to promote our services. Sharing the revenue with our affiliates is important to us as they extend our reach and are key ambassadors of the RebelBetting brand.

From a customer’s point of view, there are thousands of surebets, value bets and matched bets to take advantage of at any given time. On average, our customers are up and running within around 10 days. After that, the average annual return our customers are making exceeds 100%, so within a year they’ve usually doubled their initial investment.

Affiverse: How do you keep up-to-date with all the iGaming trends?

BL: We try to attend at least 2-3 affiliate conferences every year, both the conferences you manage like the Digital Marketing Forum , as well as the iGB Affiliate events. The importance of meeting fellow industry friends, both old and new, cannot be overlooked in this business. It helps us getting those valuable connections that opens doors to all sorts of fun opportunities.

Affiverse: What is happening with subscription services, and do you believe bettors are placing smarter bets because of it?

BL: Bettors are definitely placing smarter bets and getting more educated. We’re seeing a steady rise of interest, especially in the value betting space, which indicates that more and more bettors are willing to treat betting as a long term way to profit and not just looking for short term gains. They are also willing to subscribe to services that offer genuine value in the area they operate. We do our best to educate our customers as much as possible, as we want them to make as much money as possible. If our customers aren’t making money, we’re doing something wrong.

Affiverse: Finally, what makes RebelBetting so different?

Björn Leyonberg: From the get-go, we’ve had a solid mix of talents in the company. Getting the right people doing what they’re good at is paramount. All from board members, technical, marketing, support and maintenance. They are all equally important in a business. Once again, if you want to pursue something, do it wholeheartedly and do it well. Because of that, we’ve established ourselves as a brand you can rely on.
