We might be the most connected society in the history of humankind, but that doesn’t mean that contact details are thrown in front of us. In particular relation to this, it can be tough to find the email address for whoever you need to get in touch with.
Of course, you could just send your message to the company’s support address. But you’ll then be lucky if it ends up with the desired recipient.
But believe it or not, searching isn’t too difficult. There are plenty of email sourcing methods out there, four of which we’ll identify below.
Some individuals either share their email address on their LinkedIn contact details, or will add it to their summary section. Another option is to search for their name and ’email’ in the search tab, before choosing ‘Content’. If they’ve included their email in the past, then you might be able to find it.
It’s also possible to export your connections, so you might be able to discover the email address you’re looking for if the two of you are connected on here. To do this, head to ‘Settings & Privacy’ under the top right-hand corner’s ‘Me’ section. Then, go to ‘Getting a Copy of your Data’ and tick ‘Connections’. After this, click ‘Request Archive’.
The power of today’s search engines is unprecedented. Your contact’s email address might, if you’re lucky, have been listed somewhere on the internet. For example, they could’ve written an article somewhere. To find out if this is the case, just search for their name and business.
It’s also possible that their contact details are elsewhere on the internet. To try and find this, type their name followed by ’email’. Then, if this is the case or it’s listed in their social media bios, you should be able to discover what you’re looking for.
Email hunter tools
There are a number of hunter tools on the market, many of which are free (or at least offer a trial period). These aren’t always 100% accurate, but will produce the desired results most of the time.
All you have to do is enter the desired contact’s name, along with the company they work for. The service will then generate what it believes is the best match. In some cases, a list of verified email addresses will appear just by entering the business’ name.
The website’s ‘meet the team’ section
This could work in one or two ways. Ideally, your preferred contact is listed on this page with their details included too. But if they’re not, then other colleagues and their email addresses will hopefully be included.
If it’s the latter of these, then just follow whatever format is listed and apply it to your particular contact. Most companies’ employee email addresses are coherent in this sense.
The final say
If you look hard enough, you should be able to find email addresses with few problems. A lot of personnel, especially more senior company members, will have their emails either listed somewhere online. Hunter tools also tend to be quite advanced, and will at the very least provide a guideline to follow. And if all else fails, then make an educated guess. Your email will bounce if the address is incorrect, so you can just try the next most-accurate format until you get it right.
