William Hill to pause CPA sports commissions

Online sportsbook and casino William Hill is pausing its cost-per-acquisition (CPA) on newly-acquired customers from today (27th March).

The operator revealed this news in a correspondence circulated to members of its affiliate program.

William Hill has chosen to make this decision in response to the current lack of sporting activity.

The impact on affiliates on CPA deals

These intermittent measures will apply to all affiliates on a CPA model, who bring in UK-based sports bettors.

In its email, William Hill clarified this further.

“All affiliates on Hybrid deals which have a sports element assigned on their CPA will not receive the sports CPA on that reward plan.

“All affiliates on a CPA-only deal which has a sports element assigned will be moved to a default 30% revenue share for their new sports players.”

Will affiliates on a revenue share model be impacted too?

According to William Hill, “this change will not affect affiliates that acquire sports players on a revshare reward plan.”

Moreover, “this change will not affect your current sports revshare that you’ve already acquired from existing players.”

William Hill players urged to pivot, not panic…

While CPA payouts on new sports players are on hold for the time being, members of the operator’s affiliate program will still be able to adopt this model for other verticals.

William Hill has told partners that it has “a vast array of exciting new customer offers for Games, Casino, Live Casino, Bingo, Vegas and Poker.”

Should players wish to delve into these offerings, they have been invited to contact their affiliate manager.
