Genius Sports has settled on a deal with Sportzcast Inc which would give them control over the Scorebot system.
Scorebot is a sports data collection system. It links with venue scoreboards across North America to deliver accurate and real-time data about matches and events as they play out.
The Scorebot system is currently used by over 400 US colleges and 50 live sports streaming services. The system can also be customised to match 194 different scoreboard systems and is used by over 6000 sports venues worldwide.
Mark Locke, Genius Sports CEO and co-founder, said: “Acquiring Sportzcast expands Genius’ official data offering and relevance in the US and worldwide, making us even more compelling to sports leagues and federation partners.”
Sportzcast President Michael Connell added: “Genius is the ideal partner to accelerate our innovation and supercharge Sportzcast’s global growth through its strong distribution network.”
As sports betting continues to roll out across the US, systems such as this will no doubt prove to be crucial in allowing sportsbooks to offer the most accurate information possible to their customers.
Live and in-play betting is on the rise, and systems such as Scorebot are stepping up to deliver this crucial data. Though in-play and collegiate betting are not rolling out across all US states with legal sports betting, opportunities are still on the rise for both players and affiliates in states where they are being regulated.
