The compliance technology supplier GeoComply has given a donation of $200,000 (approx. £147,000) to ConsciousGaming, the developers of the PlayPause tool, to help with its rollout.
The aim of the PlayPause tool is to help with the modernisation of existing responsible gaming and self-exclusion programs. It also aims to overcome some of the barriers that can occur in the US thanks to the differing requirements on a state-by-state basis.
It will help to streamline some of the administration that can come with maintaining self-exclusion databases. Having such a database that crosses state borders also allows players to stay safe even when they move from one state where they might have self-excluded into another.
Big-name operators such as Entain and BetMGM have so far agreed to incorporate it into their responsible gaming protections. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has also announced that they will be the first state regulator to make use of it.
Anna Sainsbury, chair and co-founder of GeoComply, said: “We have been very fortunate at GeoComply to have a front seat to the growth of the iGaming industry across the United States over the past decade.
“We recognize with this growth comes challenges and GeoComply is proud to commit funding to Conscious Gaming to help the industry fulfil its responsibilities and obligations to responsible gaming and a safe environment for players.”
