Sports betting and iGaming affiliate company Leadstar Media has acquired a vendor minor sports betting licence in the state of Colorado, becoming the sixth state in which, the company has been approved to operate.
Expansion in the US
The entry marks the sixth state in which the Swedish-based company has been approved to operate following the launch of its first products in the US in 2019.
After New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Iowa, and Illinois, Leadstar’s latest US licence was handed out by the Colorado Division of Gaming and allows the company to partner up with operators active in the state.
Currently, Leadstar Media has three products targeting the US market, Unitedgamblers.com, Bettingscanner.com, and Sportsbooksonline.com which will be their first sites to showcase legal online sportsbooks to Coloradans.
“I’m happy to announce that we’ve been granted a licence to operate in Colorado. The US is a very exciting market for the online sports betting industry, and we can see it becoming one of our most important markets in the future”, said Eskil Kvarnström, CEO, Leadstar Media.
Whereas the entry into the Colorado market is a part of Leadstar’s expansion plan, it was also a strategic choice.
A strategic choice
Colorado is famously one of the least restrictive states regarding sports betting legislation and regulation. The state’s lack of requirement for bettors to register in-person fits perfectly with the business model adopted by Leadstar Media with the purpose to facilitate punters’ choices and boost their betting experiences.
“Colorado specifically has a huge sports interest and is home to several big-league teams as well as popular college teams. In addition, it’s a state where you don’t need to register at a physical location but can do it all online which makes it a really good state for our business model”, commented Kvarnström.
