Sports update and results provider LiveScore is launching its first-ever live streaming service in the UK and Ireland.
Fans in these two countries will be able to watch Serie A in Italy and the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
The streaming service went live on Wednesday, with all of the remaining Serie A games this season and a third of fixtures from Portugal’s top division to be shown.
Viewers will be able to access live streaming via both iOS and Android devices.
“An important step”
LiveScore Marketing Director Ric Leask spoke about the launch of streaming in the services in the UK. His thoughts were as follows.
“We’re excited to celebrate the return of football by providing live free-to-air streaming on LiveScore for the very first time. This is a hugely important step for LiveScore, as we continue to innovate and offer our audience the most immersive sports coverage possible.
“Serie A and Primeira Liga are two of the most popular and keenly followed European leagues amongst our 2 million monthly users within the UK and Ireland, so this is a fantastic opportunity to give something back to our loyal user base. After a long wait for top-level football to return, this is a brilliant start for our new live streaming service.”
LiveScore’s streaming capabilities will be honed by OTT specialists StreamAMG, who it partnered with last month.
Football in Italy returns
Following a lengthy absence and national lockdown, football returned to Italy on Wednesday night. Napoli beat Juventus 4-2 on penalties in the Coppa Italia Final to win the trophy.
Serie A will resume this weekend, with some teams having 12 fixtures left of the current campaign and others 13. Juventus currently lead Lazio at the top of the table by a single point, with Inter Milan in third.
Portugal to host continental football too
Earlier this week, UEFA announced that the remaining Champions League games for the 2019/2020 campaign will be held in Portugal this summer.
The final will take place in Lisbon, which also hosted the 2014 edition.
