The Regional Council of Darmstadt (RP Darmstadt) has awarded betting licenses to three new operators. The operators to receive these licenses are Bet3000, Interwetten and Betclic Everest’s Bet-at-home. They take the total whitelist of sports betting operators in Germany to 18.
Variety of licenses
Bet-at-home was the first to receive a license this week but they have been swiftly followed by Interwetten and Bet3000. However, it should be noted that the licenses awarded by RP Darmstadt don’t cover exactly the same things.
Both Interwetten and Bet-at-home have been given an online-only license which is still an achievement in this region. Bet3000, on the other hand, has secured a license for both retail and online betting.
18 licenses awarded
These new licensees join a list of 15 other operators who have secured their own license over the past year. This includes operators such as Tipico and GVC Holdings who obtained four licenses for their brands.
It should be noted that these licenses have been given under new regulations set out in the new GlüNeuRStV. The transition period for these regulations began on 15 October and operators are warned that they must adhere to these in order to retain their license and avoid a fine.
The market in Germany has only recently opened up to poker and online slots and so there is a lot of buzz surrounding this region at the moment. As long as operators and affiliates can adhere to the strict KYC checks and age verification processes, they can continue to operate in Germany.
