Global ecommerce platform eBay is launching a new platform called Imperfects to help fight fashion waste and to stop almost perfect items from heading to landfill.
The items available on this platform will include clothes, accessories and shoes that are new but have small defects such as scuffs, missing buttons, loose threads, or ex-display items. It is thought that over 100 high-street and high-end names will be available on the Imperfects platform priced at up to 60% off.
All items will be clearly listed with photos and descriptions of the imperfections, and will come with a money-back guarantee, free shipping, and 30-day returns.
Jemma Tadd, eBay UK’s head of fashion, said: “With growing financial pressures and the climate crisis continuing to be at the forefront of consumers’ minds, we’re proud to launch Imperfects as another avenue to help keep fashion items out of landfill.
“It’s often the fashion items that may have not made the ‘cut’ and failed quality assurance checks – as a result customers would not have had the opportunity to purchase the items. eBay is providing a platform for these items to be given a second chance, and be sold, despite their imperfections.”
