DraftKings has expanded to yet another corner of the US, launching a new mobile sportsbook in Iowa.
Customers must register in-person for the rest of this year. However, from 1st January 2021, they will no longer be required to do this.
Multiple verticals and a new player bonus
Players can register at any of the state’s three Wild Rose casinos. These are located in Clinton, Emmetsburg and Jefferson.
Once online, players will be able to bet on multiple verticals. This includes all major US sports – with both professional and college football and basketball offered.
Other verticals are baseball, horse racing and hockey, plus more.
Wild Rose has been in a partnership with DraftKings since last August. Since then, the two have been running land-based sportsbooks in the Midwestern state.
Matt Kalish, DraftKings Co-Founder and North America President, noted the existing engagement between the company and fans in Iowa. When talking about the new launch, his words were as follows.
“DraftKings has seen steady fan engagement in Iowa during the last few months at our three Wild Rose sportsbooks across the state, and we couldn’t be more excited to provide customers with our state-of-the-art mobile sports betting platform.
“We have worked diligently to perfect our sportsbook product since it launched in 2018, and starting today, we’re proud to offer Iowans a safe and responsible place to wager on sports – one that can be accessed conveniently from the palm of their hands.”
Big ambitions
Headquarted in Boston, DraftKings is huge in the world of US sports betting and fantasy sports. The company has expanded into New Hampshire and Pennsylvania since the beginning of Q4 2019.
At the beginning of January 2020, it also boosted its exposure in New York – via a deal with Madison Square Gardens.
Tom Timmons, Wild Rose President and Chief Operating Officer, thinks that DraftKings’ app will offer Iowan players a new and exciting dimension to sports betting. He said the below.
“We believe DraftKings is offering the best mobile app yet to Iowa sports betting enthusiasts. Since we opened the sportsbooks, we have been deluged with requests for this app.”
