BetVictor have taken a massive step to being crowned Champion Trader, posting a rip-roaring first day at the Greatest Show on Turf.
The online bookmaker produced a day to remember in the opening leg of the second annual Oddschecker Cheltenham Traders Tipping League, ending with a massive 76.5 points of profit to their name.
Their huge return was mainly due to placing 5 points on Summerville Boy in the first race at 9/1.
That said, you have to give praise to the 5 points they placed on Footpad and also their each-way punt on Melon.
Betway also had a day at the beach, having finished the seven races with 27 points. Their big winner coming in the last, with 2 points each-way on Mr Whitaker.
The traders at Betway also fancied Melon and their trust was rewarded with a strong run by the Willie Mullins horse.
Three other bookies finished day one in profit as William Hill, Coral and Betfair left Cheltenham with a small profit, largely due to Coo Star Sivola.
It was a less memorable day for the other bookies in the league, however with three days left and plenty of ante-post punts to go, this ground could be made up in no time.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “BetVictor have claimed the honours of best bookie on the opening day of the Festival.
“Summerville Boy kicked things off in an elaborate fashion, giving the bookmaker a chimerical start to the action with a 9/1 winner.
“Plaudits must also go to Betway, who posted a gargantuan 27 points profit, paving the way in second place.”
