“Everybody falls into this industry by accident… and they end up loving it!”
Lee-Ann points out a popular recurring theme with guests on the Affiliate Marketing Podcast – how career entry is often something that happens quite by accident. From here, a love of the industry is born! She goes on to ask Coady to explain more about the structure of the PXA Academy and who it is designed for.
Coady explains, “So, it really was birthed out of the way our product works and the way that we built the product to suit affiliate programs. The way that we’ve defined this path is to help you on that endless flywheel continue to scale and grow your program. We have: discover and recruit, contract and pay, track, engage, protect and monitor and optimize.
“The way that we think about it is that you start your program by recruitment, right? You need to find the right partners that fit your brand to work with you, get them in the program and get them up to speed. Then you need to figure out how to pay them, according to the type of partner that they are, and what the partnership requires and all of that negotiation. Then you have to make sure you’re tracking them so that you’re making sure everything is going according to plan and everything’s tracking properly.
“Then you’re engaging with them to continue that promotion and to get them up to speed with what messaging you have and how you want the brand spoken about. You also need to have protections in place for your program to make sure that they’re following any restrictions that you’ve set, that your TM plus program is protected if you’re running one, or that nobody’s bidding if you aren’t, that there’s no fraudulent orders coming through – things like that.
“Lastly, you optimize and take a look at what you’ve learned over the course of however many months and do it all over again in an endless flywheel. But it’s always something different. And that’s why it’s sort of a flywheel because you don’t want it to end. You want to continue recruiting, continue optimizing.”
A place to level up your skillset
Lee-Ann asks, “Tell us why Impact felt that they needed to invest in the PXA? Because it’s not only for their own clients, it’s for anybody that wants to come and learn. So, what was the reasoning behind that? What is your passion for doing the education piece for everybody else in the industry?”
Coady replies, “It is for everybody and it’s free, too. The reason was because there was no training in the industry or very, very little. We know, like you said, a rising tide lifts all ships. We wanted to give people a place to level up their skillset and grow the industry as a whole – because we all really succeed together.
“We wanted to take the opportunity to be thought-leaders in this space and kind of put our stamp on partnerships education, be the first ones here and really own this –sort of– void in the market. I think we’ve done a really good job, making that happen so far.”
