Gamstop, a gambling self-exclusion service, has launched a new media campaign to promote awareness of gambling self-exclusion in the UK.
Gamstop has secured partnerships with a range of professional sports teams and bodies looking to support the campaign, including Crystal Palace FC, Luton Town FC, the Professional Players Federation, and the Professional Cricket Association.
The scheme has been launched to promote responsible gambling practices ahead of the upcoming Qatar World Cup this winter.
The campaign is said to have reached around 2.6 million people through social media, using the hashtag #TakeBackControl2022.
“We are very grateful to all our partners who took part with us on social media to support the campaign, using the #TakeBackControl2022 hashtag. By sharing information about Gamstop with their followers they have helped us to educate new audiences about self-exclusion and where people can get help if they need it,” said Gamstop CEO Fiona Palmer.
Gamstop allows people who are suffering from gambling harm to block themselves from gambling platforms for set periods of time.
Earlier this year, Gamstop reported that it had recorded over 300,000 registrations since the company launched its services in 2018. A total of 43,500 of these registrations came in the first half of 2022, representing an increase of 9% year-on-year.
