1xBet granted full Nigerian licence

Online sportsbook 1xBet has been granted a full licence to operate in Nigeria, lasting until 2024.

Through obtaining this, the operator will be able to do business in every state throughout the country.

Along with continue to grow its presence on African soil, the company has emphasised its wishes to contribute to a more responsible gambling landscape. In a statement, it said:

“Given that our licence to work in Nigeria is valid until 2024, in the next five years we want to set new standards of betting culture. We will teach fans that with 1xBet they play according to simple and understandable rules that must be observed.”

A strong footprint

1xBet is already well-known in Nigeria. Back in 2018, it agreed a partnership deal with the Nigerian national football team. It’s also a partner of both the Nigerian Premier League and the country’s football federation.

The brand also mentioned that under its licence, it’s permitted to offer services in markets other than sports. These include “cinema, music, politics and other walks of life”.

It also went on to say: “We want to give everyone who is legally able to place bets access to earning potential and look forward to finding interesting new partners in Nigeria with like-minded goals.”

Elsewhere on the continent, it’s an official partner of the African Confederation of Football. In Europe, it signed a deal with with La Liga giants FC Barcelona last year. Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are other big football clubs it has partnered with recently.

1xBet is also licensed in Ghana, Senegal, Uganda, Cameroon and other African markets.

Affiliates

Africa is a continent that many iGaming affiliates are keeping a close eye on at the moment. Considering the sheer volume of players in Nigeria, which has a population of over 190 million, they might be tempted to join 1xBet’s program.

The sportsbook offers affiliates weekly payouts, as well as up to 25% commission for referred players.
